Restraint Evidence Methodology

In June, the first version of the Restraint Evidence Methodology was finalised. It was created by the collaboration of the project experts Pavel Říčan, Marek Procházka and Tomáš Petr with the experts of the individual inpatient psychiatric care facilities that are active participants in the project: the University Hospitals in Ostrava and Pilsen, the Psychiatric Hospitals Bohnice, Horní Beřkovice and Jihlava and the Central Military Hospital in Prague. The methodology is based on the National Action Plan for Mental Health and other relevant documents and recommendations, and the Ministry of Health was consulted on specific issues during its development.
The aim of the methodology is to unify the recording of restraints in the departments involved in the project. This will enable compact data to be collected and evaluated. This will make it possible to monitor the impact of training and other project activities on the use of restraints in the wards. The project aims to reduce the use of restraints by 6%. The methodology will also be tested in practice during the project and will be offered for wider use to the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic after the end of the project.
